Perth gamers can sign up for what organisers are calling the city's biggest Counter-Strike 2 event, a 100-player LAN at Murdoch University on Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 November.

The event is a team-up between WA Counter-Strike community WACS, Murdoch Active and Ground Zero, and was announced on r/perth, where it drew more than 30 upvotes.

How it works

According to the organisers, the LAN runs over two full days at the Murdoch Digi Lab, with group stages on Saturday and finals on Sunday. There is a $1,000 prize pool.

Paris. Fall for the City of Light.

Watch the rooftops turn gold at dusk, linger in a corner cafe, lose an afternoon in the Louvre. Paris is the getaway that romances you from the moment you arrive.

It's a draft format, so you don't need a team: players sign up solo and teams are formed on the day from the player pool. Organisers say all skill levels are welcome. Players must be 16 or older.

Entry is $30, or $20 for Murdoch University students. Details and sign-up are on the WACS website, and the group also runs nightly pick-up games on Perth servers through its Discord.

Local LAN events have become rarer as online play has taken over, so a 100-seat event is a decent turnout for Perth's Counter-Strike scene. If you've been meaning to play on a local server with low ping, this looks like a good weekend to do it.
