Art Gallery of Western Australia (AGWA)
Located in the Perth Cultural Centre, AGWA houses an outstanding collection of Australian and international art. The Indigenous Australian art collection is particularly significant and worth a dedicated visit. Entry is free.
WA Museum Boola Bardip
The revamped state museum in Northbridge is a world-class facility. The building alone is architectural spectacle, and the permanent exhibitions covering WA's natural and cultural history are engaging for all ages.
Perth Concert Hall & His Majesty's Theatre
The city's premier performance venues host everything from the West Australian Symphony Orchestra to touring Broadway shows and international comedy acts.
Festivals
- Fringe World (January-February) — Australia's third-largest fringe festival. Hundreds of shows across the city, from comedy to cabaret to circus.
- Perth Festival (February-March) — The city's premier arts festival featuring theatre, dance, music, and visual arts from around the world.
- Sculpture by the Sea (March) — Stunning outdoor sculpture exhibition along the Cottesloe to Bondi coastal walk.
- Revelation Film Festival (July) — Independent and experimental cinema in Fremantle.
Grassroots Spaces
Beyond the major institutions, Perth's grassroots arts scene thrives in converted warehouses, laneways, and pop-up venues. Areas like Northbridge, Fremantle, and Leederville are home to independent galleries, artist studios, and creative collectives that showcase emerging local talent.
