Woodside-branded travel adaptors handed out at Perth events recalled over electric shock and fire risk

The red and white adaptors have uninsulated pins and no earth. Anyone who got one at a Woodside event should stop using it now.

Promotional travel adaptors carrying the Woodside Energy logo, handed out at business events in Perth this year, have been recalled because they could give users a fatal electric shock or start a fire.

The national product safety recall was published on 22 October 2026. Anyone who has one is being told to stop using it straight away and unplug it.

What is being recalled

The product is a universal travel adaptor kit, model PCH037, with UK, US/Australian and European plugs. It came in red and white, with the Woodside Energy logo printed on it.

Japan. The trip you will never stop talking about.

According to the recall notice on the ACCC's Product Safety Australia website, the adaptors were given away at several events, including:

  • the Leadership Matters breakfast in Perth in October 2026
  • Woodside customer events in Perth in August 2026 and in Melbourne in October 2025
  • the Australian Energy Producers Conference and Exhibition in Adelaide in May 2026.

Business News reported that the October breakfast was The West Australian's Leadership Matters event featuring Woodside chief executive Liz Westcott. That means a large number of the adaptors are likely sitting in the desk drawers and travel bags of Perth's business community.

Why it is dangerous

The recall notice says the adaptor does not comply with required Australian electrical safety standards and is not certified for use in Australia. It lists two specific faults: the plug pins are not insulated, and the adaptor has no earth connection.

Pins without insulation can leave live metal exposed while a plug is being pushed in or pulled out. Without an earth, a fault in whatever is plugged into the adaptor has no safe path to ground.

What to do if you have one

The recall is being run by Fair Oceans Trading Australia, which trades as PromoCollection and supplied the adaptors to Woodside. Owners should:

  • stop using the adaptor immediately and disconnect it from the power
  • contact PromoCollection to arrange a free return and a full refund.

PromoCollection can be reached on 1300 369 252 between 9am and 5pm AEDT on weekdays (6am to 2pm in Perth), by email at recall@promocollection.com.au, or through its recall page at promocollection.com.au/recall/woodside. The Product Safety Australia reference for the recall is PRA 2026/21078.

What Woodside says

A spokesperson for the Perth-headquartered gas producer told Business News that the company supported the recall and took community safety seriously. WA Consumer Protection also flagged the recall on social media, saying the adaptors did not meet Australian electrical safety standards.

Why it matters

Promotional giveaways tend to get tossed into a bag and forgotten until the next overseas trip, which is exactly when a faulty travel adaptor gets used. If you went to a Woodside event or the Leadership Matters breakfast this year and brought home a red or white adaptor, it is worth checking now rather than at the airport.
